Earth Ring Ceremony
Earth Ring Ceremony
Tuesday April 28 2020 2 pm Multipurpose Room (Riddell Centre),University of Regina
The Earth Science Ring Ceremony began 45 years ago in Alberta, and has gained increasing acceptance across Canada forming part of the right of passage for many Canadian graduates. This is the third year the Dept. of Geology at the University of Regina will offer the Earth Science RingCeremony.
The Earth Science Ring, commonly known as the Earth Ring, is comparable to the Iron Ring for Engineers, and in a similar way is a symbol of the commitment and responsibility that come with wearing the title professional geoscientist.
- Geology and Geoscience majors who will graduate in 2020 or who graduated previously before the ring was available and
- Those who meet the academic requirements for registration with APEGS upon graduation, are all eligible to participate in the Earth Ring Ceremony.
Simple in design and concept, the ring is available in silver, gold (yellow or white), or platinum (wearers choice) and marked with a debossed crossed hammer and seismic trace. Candidates may select one of two debossed designs, shown below.
