DESCRIPTION:Event Format: Webinar – Microsoft Teams \nHosting Organization: APEGS – A Member-Led Webinar Series Presentation \nCourse Summary: Learn all about the basics of sound\, including some of the common terminology used by acoustical consultants: \n\nWhat is sound; when is it good and when is it bad?\nWhy do we need to consider the frequency characteristics such as octave bands?\nWhat is the difference between sound pressure and sound power and why is it important?\nHow does sound travel in buildings and how do we stop it?\n\nPresenter: Ian Bonsma\, PEng\, INCE\, has more than 18 years of experience in noise\, vibration and acoustics engineering consulting. Ian’s responsibilities cover a wide variety of projects including architectural acoustical design of buildings (acoustical privacy\, speech intelligibility)\, environmental noise\, ground-borne vibration and structural vibration assessments. Recent work has focused on the analysis and design of noise and vibration control for building services as well as architectural acoustic design for commercial and institutional spaces that include acoustic optimization\, speech intelligibility and privacy solutions.
