SUMMARY:Slurry Pipeline Systems Course
DESCRIPTION:Event Format: In-person Course \nLocation: Innovation Place\, Saskatoon\, SK \nHosting Organization: Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) \nEvent Summary: SRC and Paterson and Cooke have joined forces to offer a comprehensive course in slurry pipeline design and operation. SRC has conducted hundreds of slurry pipeline RD&D programs and has developed a primarily mechanistic model describing the pipeline flow of settling slurries. Paterson and Cooke is an internationally recognized firm that has designed numerous slurry handling installations throughout the world. \nThe course focuses on applying the basic principles of slurry pipeline flows to actual design situations\, including conventional slurry and thickened slurry (paste) systems. This course will provide an excellent opportunity for people involved in slurry transportation to meet in an informal environment\, to share experiences and to foster a uniform technical language and approach for slurry flow analysis. \nWho should attend: All professionals involved in solids handling in the mining\, chemical\, industrial and engineering fields\, who have not previously taken the Slurry Pipeline Systems Course. Previous courses have been attended by: process engineers\, equipment reliability and maintenance engineers\, mining engineers\, metallurgists\, consulting engineers and equipment suppliers. \nHow to Register: Click here for more information and to register. \nEvent Contact: Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) | 306-385-4107 (Office) \nDisclaimer: The views expressed during this event are those of the hosting organization and do not necessarily represent the views of APEGS.

SUMMARY:Geomorphic Processes Short Course
DESCRIPTION:Date:  May 8 8am – 12pm and May 9 8am to 1pm \nEvent Format:  Two morning classroom style sessions \nLocation:  Park Town Hotel\, 924 Spadina Crescent E\, Saskatoon\, SK\, S7K 3H5 \nHosting Organization:  Saskatoon Geotechnical Group \nEvent Summary:  The course begins with reviews of geomorphic processes that have most influenced the landscapes of Canada; topics like periglacial climate\, ice physics and glacier flow\, glacier hydrology\, glaciations of Canada\, glacial deposition\, meltwater flow and meltwater deposition. These explain the array of sediment types and attendant stratigraphy and sedimentology of soils across Canada. \nThe process review blends-in an array of case histories. Examples are drawn from the mining\, pipeline\, and civil / municipal sectors. They illustrate the breadth of process understanding needed to build geo-models suitable for geotechnical engineering design purposes. \nHow to Register:  https://www.saskatoongeotech.com/events/geomorphicprocesses-short-course-with-dr-wayne-savigny-2 \nEvent Contact: saskatoongeotechnicalgroup@gmail.com \nDisclaimer:  The views expressed during this event are those of the hosting organization and do not necessarily represent the views of APEGS. \n
