SUMMARY:Slurry Pipeline Systems Course
DESCRIPTION:Date: May 6 – 9\, 2025 \nEvent Format: In-person course \nLocation: Saskatoon\, SK \nHosting Organization: Saskatchewan Research Council \nEvent Summary: SRC and Paterson and Cooke have joined forces to offer a comprehensive course in slurry pipeline design and operation. SRC has conducted hundreds of slurry pipeline RD&D programs and has developed a primarily mechanistic model describing the pipeline flow of settling slurries. Paterson and Cooke is an internationally recognized firm that has designed numerous slurry handling installations throughout the world. The course focuses on applying the basic principles of slurry pipeline flows to actual design situations\, including conventional slurry and thickened slurry (paste) systems. This course will provide an excellent opportunity for people involved in slurry transportation to meet in an informal environment\, to share experiences and to foster a uniform technical language and approach for slurry flow analysis. \nRegistration closes on April 1 \nHow to Register: Click here for more information and to register. \nEvent Contact: Saskatchewan Research Council. Course Inquiries 306-514-7342 (Office); 306-933-5400 (Main Reception) \nDisclaimer: The views expressed during this event are those of the hosting organization and do not necessarily represent the views of APEGS.

SUMMARY:Short Course - Cone Penetration Testing and Pressuremeter Testing for Geotechnical Design and Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Date: May 8 and 9\, 2025 \nEvent Format: In-person short course \nLocation: Saskatoon\, SK \nHosting Organization: Saskatoon Geotechnical Group \nEvent Summary: This course is designed to provide geotechnical engineers with an in depth understanding of the application and interpretation of Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) and Pressuremeter Testing (PMT). Participants will learn the foundational skill of planning site investigations\, selecting appropriate in situ testing techniques\, and utilizing CPT and PMT data for site characterization\, estimation of soil parameters\, liquefaction assessments\, pile design\, and settlement estimation within the context of the latest 5th Edition Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual (CFEM). This course emphasizes real-world case studies with valuable insights from Dr. David Elwood\, which participants can implement into their professional practice. This course is designed for geotechnical engineers\, civil engineers\, engineering technologists\, and students involved in site investigations or geotechnical characterization programs. \nHow to Register: Click here for more information and to register \nEvent Contact: Saskatoon Geotechnical Group: www.saskatoongeotech.com \nDisclaimer: The views expressed during this event are those of the hosting organization and do not necessarily represent the views of APEGS.
