SUMMARY:Combustible DWV and The Codes
DESCRIPTION:Date: July 23\, 2024 \nTime: 11:00 AM CST \nEvent Format: Webinar \nLocation: Online \nHosting Organization: IPEX Management Inc. \nEvent Summary: The use of combustible piping systems for drainage\, waste and vent (DWV) applications can be cost effective\, code compliant and offer proven longevity to the project teams that understand how to intelligently specify and install it. The purpose of this session is to build an understanding of what Part 3 of the building code requires from combustible DWV piping systems so that you can confidently specify the proper combustible DWV pipe material for any building type (combustible and noncombustible)\, height (high buildings\, low rise) and location within the building (plenums\, vertical service spaces\, FT rated fire separations\, noise sensitive areas). \nSpeaker:  Cory Norman \nCory is a professional engineer who studied mechanical engineering at the University of Alberta and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Currently he is the plumbing and mechanical regional engineer for IPEX\, supporting the consulting and inspection community across western Canada. Prior to his seven year tenure (and counting) with IPEX\, he started his professional career as a firestop specialist with Hilti before working as a code consultant at Jensen Hughes. \nHow to Register: Click here for more information and to register. \nEvent Contact: IPEX Management Inc. corporate@ipexna.com     www.ipexna.com \nDisclaimer: The views expressed during this event are those of the hosting organization and do not necessarily represent the views of APEGS.

SUMMARY:CSA Structural Design and Welding Requirements
DESCRIPTION:Date: July 24\, 2024 \nTime: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM CST \nEvent Format: Live Webinar – Microsoft Teams \nHosting Organization: APEGS – A Professional Webinar Series Presentation \nEvent Summary: The Canadian Welding Bureau is the sole administrator of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) welding certification programs for companies performing welding on projects following building\, bridge\, or other client-specified Canadian codes or standards. This presentation will provide Design Engineers\, Project Managers\, Procurement and Supply Chain Staff\, Quality Engineers\, and Supervisors with a summary of the welding requirements for Design\, Welding Standards\, and Certification for Structures. It will explain the connection between the CSA welding certification programs and Canadian building codes filtered through the design and fabrication standards. It will also outline the welding certification requirements and help attendees identify if they are being met by welding fabricators and erectors. At the end of the presentation\, we will present some examples of welding deficiencies\, and risks involved when using non-certified CWB organizations and suggest the next steps required to address them. \nPresenter – Mark Fernandes. Mark Fernandes is the Manager of Engineering\, Procurement and Construction (EPC) at CWB. As an experienced professional with a strong background in the welding industry\, Mark provides technical support\, demonstrates the value of Canadian-made welding certification\, and promotes the adoption of welding standards across Canada to engineering firms\, procurement and quality departments\, and the construction industry. \nWho Should Attend: Design Engineers\, Project Managers\, Procurement and Supply Chain Staff\, Quality Engineers\, and Supervisors. This presentation aims to raise awareness of the Canadian Welding Standards with the Building Codes and CWB Certification. \nThere is no cost to attend\, but registration is required. This webinar is eligible for Formal Activity CPD credit. This event will be held live on the Microsoft Teams platform.  The meeting link will be sent by end of day on July 22\, 2024 to the email address in which you registered for this event. \nHow to Register: Registration is now closed. If you need to cancel your registration to this event\, please email cpd@apegs.ca. \nEvent Contact: APEGS Professional Development Department. SUMMARY:NI 43-101 Essentials: Reporting Standards for Mineral Projects
DESCRIPTION:Date: July 29\, 2024 \nTime: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM CST \nEvent Format: Live Webinar – Microsoft Teams \nHosting Organization: APEGS – A Member-Led Live Webinar Series Presentation \nEvent Summary: What is National Instrument 43-101? What is its role in the mining industry? How can the general public benefit from it? Developed by the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA)\, NI 43-101 is a regulatory standard that governs how companies disclose information about mineral projects to the public in Canada.  As the name suggests\, this “National Instrument” applies uniformly across all provincial and territorial legislatures\, ensuring transparent reporting. The Disclosure Instrument applies to both oral statements and written documents\, including websites\, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting of mining-related information.  Canadian mining and mineral exploration companies must follow specific rules for public disclosure which are designed to improve the accuracy and integrity of the information they provide on properties material to the company. During the webinar\, the prescribed format for the 43-101 Technical Document will be discussed.  The presentation will include discussions on: \n\nHow the disclosure standards apply to oral statements as well as written documents and websites.\nNI 43-101 does not apply to disclosure concerning petroleum\, natural gas\, bituminous sands or shales\, groundwater\, or coal bed methane.\n• The disclosure must be based on information provided by a “qualified person”.\n• In some circumstances\, the qualified person has to be independent of the company and the property.\n• A company is required to use specified terminology defined by CIM when disclosing mineral resources and mineral reserves.\n\nPresenter – Faisal Sayeed\, P.Geo. Faisal’s industry experience portfolio includes heavy crude/unconventional hydrocarbons\, base/precious metals in a multitude of jurisdictions around the globe where he has modeled resources in variety of settings:\n• Porphyry Copper (British Columbia\, Canada\, West Africa)\n• Potash (Saskatchewan\, Canada\, OCP\, Morocco)\n• Pegmatite hosted Lithium (Canada\, Brazil\, West Africa)\,\n• SEDEX\, IOCG (Australia)\, VHMS\, Epithermal/Mesothermal precious & base metals (Argentina\, Nigeria\, Pakistan) \nFaisal is currently engaged in the mineral resources industry as a Sr. Geologist/Consultant\, QP for disclosure reporting (NI43-101)\, Study Manager for several PEA\, PFS\, and DFS level work. \nThere is no cost to attend\, but registration is required.  This webinar is eligible for Formal Activity CPD credit. \nThis event will be held live on the Microsoft Teams platform.  The meeting link will be sent by end of day on July 25\, 2024 to the email address in which you registered for this event. \nHow to Register:  Registration is now closed.  The meeting link will be sent by end of day on July 25\, 2024 to the email address in which you registered for this event. \nIf you need to cancel your registration to this event\, please email cpd@apegs.ca. \nEvent Contact: APEGS Professional Development Department Angela Foster or Jolene Arthur cpd@apegs.ca \nDisclaimer: The views expressed during this event are those of the presenters and do not necessarily represent the views of APEGS. \nNOTE:  Clicking the “Add to Calendar” button below does NOT register you for this event.  Please use the link above to register.
