Business transformation is underway at APEGS!

APEGS is evolving to better serve its members and strengthen its regulatory processes. As part of this transformation, we’re excited to announce the creation of two new roles – Manager of Communications and Manager of Business Support – alongside a current vacancy for Manager of Governance. These new positions will support the business and digital transformation of APEGS regulatory processes as well as the modernization of sound business practices.

APEGS’s goal is to continue quality regulation of the professions, to offer guidance and support to registrants, and to strengthen and streamline internal processes.

Manager of Governance

Reporting to the Director of Governance and Strategy, this position is responsible for managing governance and policy frameworks, programs, and processes. The position aligns governance practices with applicable overarching legislation and bylaws. It is responsible for managing and maintaining a Board-approved (referred to as ‘Council’) policy framework, including a regularized review cycle. It plays a lead policy role for APEGS by monitoring key trends that may result in policy modernization. The position supports Council and its committees, as assigned, and is a member of the APEGS management team.

A key responsibility of this position for the first 24 months will be to directly participate in an Act Review and Act Implementation project. The role will assess policy and implementation impacts resulting from anticipated changes to the Act and supporting by-laws that govern APEGS, and will be directly involved in the development and execution of implementation plans.

Manager of Communications

As a member of the management team, the Manager of Communications understands the internal and external communication needs of APEGS and is responsible for creating effective and meaningful dialogue, information, and transparent communication results. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Public Relations, the position works with a team of professionals to develop, implement, maintain and enhance communication programs focused on both internal and external audiences. The position will work closely with all departments across APEGS and provide leadership in the promotion, adoption, and effective application of communication programs. Through leadership in key messages, social media strategies, face to face engagement strategies, and variety of other relevant communication channels, the position will contribute to stakeholder education, awareness, and understanding.

Manager of Business Support

This position, reporting to the Director of Governance and Strategy, is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and enhancing business supports and systems aimed at applying consistent discipline and sound business practices to the operating framework of APEGS. The position will work closely with all departments and provide leadership in the provision of legal support, contract management, and records management. As a member of the management team, the Manager of Business Support will research, analyze and understand the business needs of APEGS to develop legal frameworks, policies, and processes aimed at achieving effective and efficient business operations.
