Keep your contact information up to date.
If a member (or applicant) changes their name, address, or any other contact details, they must update their information with APEGS as soon as possible by logging into APEGS Central.
See the Annual Renewal page for important information on your responsibility to maintain your membership.
What are the consequences of practicing without a licence?
Any members or applicants who are found to have been practicing engineering or geoscience on projects or properties located in Saskatchewan without a valid licence are subject to an enforcement investigation and a good character review.
Sections 4 to 6 of the Regulatory Bylaws provide that registration with APEGS is “available to a person of good character”. The definition of “Good Character” is outlined in the APEGS Good Character Guideline.
How do I make a name change with APEGS?
If you are an APEGS member or applicant and need to update your name, please follow these steps:
1. Prepare Your Documents
You must provide the following:
- A copy of your new photo identification.
- Proof of name change (one of the below).
- Legal name change documentation
- Marriage certificate
2. Have Your Documents Notarized
Each document must be notarized by either:
- A Notary Public, or
- A professional engineer or geoscientist registered in Canada.
The person notarizing must:
- Confirm they have met the holder of the document.
- Sign and date each page.
- Apply their official stamp or seal.
- If a professional engineer or geoscientist does not have a stamp, they must include their member number.
3. Submit Your Documents
Scan the notarized documents and email them to membership@apegs.ca for processing.
Important Notes
- Photo ID alone is not accepted as proof of a name change
- Your submission package must show both your former and new name
- According to eHealth Saskatchewan, if your name change is due to annulment of marriage, divorce, or the death of your spouse, you do not need to apply for a legal change of name. In these cases, you can begin using your new preferred last name by updating your records with:
- Your workplace
- Your banking institution
- Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI)
- Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
You will be required to submit verification to APEGS that your name has been changed with one of the above organizations.
- Legal name change documentation is required for all other situations.
If you have any questions, please contact us at membership@apegs.ca.
New stamp
Professional engineers, professional geoscientists, engineering licensees and geoscience licensees wishing to request a new stamp with their new name can do so on the Digital Signatures and Seals page. A new electronic image of your professional seal will automatically be emailed to you once the name change is complete.
