Reinstatement – Professional Member

This process applies to anyone who was formerly registered as a Professional Engineer, Professional Geoscientist, Engineering Licensee or Geoscience Licensee with APEGS. If you were formerly a member-in-training, click here to find information on the reinstatement process.

Reinstatement Process

A. If you are applying for reinstatement in the same year that your membership ended, then you do not have to submit a new application. If you resigned your membership before it expired, you will not have to pay a reinstatement fee. If your membership ended because you did not pay your annual registration fees by the due date (January 31st of the year which they are for), then you must pay a reinstatement fee, as well as the full annual registration fees to reinstate your membership.

  1. Send an email to through our Contact Us page and indicate that you wish to reinstate your membership.
  2. An invoice will be posted to your online profile for annual registration fees.
  3. After you have paid the annual registration fees, you will receive a certificate in the mail and an electronic image of your seal by email. If you ordered a physical stamp, it will be delivered within a few months (this may take slightly longer if you are located outside of Canada).
  4. Once you have paid your annual fees you are permitted to use the appropriate title.
  5. Your certificate may take several months to arrive. You do not need your certificate in your possession to start using one of the protected titles.

B. If your registration ended in a previous year, but less than two years ago, and you are not currently a professional member in another province or territory, then you must apply for reinstatement and pay any applicable fees. Your qualifications will not be reassessed.

  1. Go to your online profile by clicking on Login in the top right corner of this webpage.
  2. Select the “Applications” quick link on the left side of the page.
  3. Select “Apply Now” and choose the “Former Professional Member Reinstating” or “Engineer/Geoscience Licensee Reinstating” application type.
  4. To submit your application online you must pay the application fee of $300 plus GST by credit card. See fees for additional payment options.
  5. You will receive an email with your reinstatement status once your registration is approved.
  6. An invoice for pro-rated annual registration fees will be posted to your online profile.
  7. After you have paid the annual registration fees, you will receive a certificate in the mail and an electronic image of your seal by email. If you ordered a physical stamp, it will be delivered within a few months (this may take slightly longer if you are located outside of Canada).
  8. Once you have paid your annual fees you are permitted to use the appropriate title.

C. If your registration ended more than two years ago, and you are not currently a professional member in another province or territory, then you must apply for reinstatement and pay any applicable fees. Your work experience will be reassessed to determine if you have acceptable experience within the past two years.

  1. Go to your online profile by clicking on Login in the top right corner of this webpage.
  2. Select the “Applications” quick link on the left side of the page.
  3. Select “Apply Now” and choose the “Former Professional Member Reinstating” or “Engineer/Geoscience Licensee Reinstating” application type.
  4. To submit your application online you must pay the application fee of $300 plus GST by credit card. See fees for additional payment options.
  5. You must provide three professional references (in the online application form).
  6. Send a detailed resume through our Contact Us page and including the subject line: “Former Professional Member Reinstating” or “Former Engineering/Geoscience Licensee Reinstating”.
  7. The Experience Review Committee will then determine whether you have acceptable recent work experience based on your resume and references.
  8. You will receive an email with your reinstatement status once your registration is approved.
  9. An invoice for pro-rated annual registration fees will be posted to your online profile.
  10. After you have paid the annual registration fees, you will receive a certificate in the mail and an electronic image of your seal by email. If you ordered a physical stamp, it will be delivered within a few months (this may take slightly longer if you are located outside of Canada).
  11. Once you have paid your annual fees you are permitted to use the appropriate title.
  12. Your certificate may take several months to arrive. You do not need your certificate in your possession to start using one of the protected titles.

D. If you are currently registered in another province or territory as a professional member and are a former APEGS member and want to reinstate, then you should take into consideration when your membership with APEGS ended and choose the scenario that best applies to your case:

  1. If your membership ended in the same year that your membership ended, then you should follow reinstatement option A.
  2. If your membership ended in a previous year, but less than two years ago, then you should follow reinstatement option B.
  3. If your membership with APEGS ended over two years ago, then you can re-apply with APEGS as an Inter-Association Mobility – Professional Member.
