This section provides an overview of the APEGS application process for individuals.
Engineering and geoscience are regulated professions in Saskatchewan and throughout Canada. This means that only those licensed by the regulatory body have the right to practice these professions. If you are doing work in Saskatchewan that falls under the definition practice of professional engineering or practice of professional geoscience as defined in the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act, then you must either:
- Be registered as a professional engineer or professional geoscientist in Saskatchewan, or
- Work under the direct supervision of someone who is registered as a professional engineer or professional geoscientist in Saskatchewan
APEGS ensures that all engineers and geoscientists practicing engineering or geoscience in this province are licensed and meet important professional standards in the engineering and geoscience fields. A licence is required by law to protect the public and the environment.

Right to Title, Right to Practice
Once members receive their geoscience or engineering licence, they will be eligible to use the appropriate designation/title after their name. Examples of protected designations in Saskatchewan include: P.Eng., P.Geo., engineer-in-training, geoscientist-in-training, engineering licensee, and geoscience licensee.
Once members have a professional licence (P.Eng/P.Geo, engineering/geoscience licensee), they will be able to sign and seal documents. A professional seal and signature on a document provides assurance to the public that their safety and wellbeing and protection of the environment are being held paramount.
