Practice and Title

APEGS has a statutory obligation to safeguard the public by ensuring the proficiency and competency of members in the practice of professional engineering and professional geoscience. APEGS has the legal right and requirement to restrict the practice of professional engineering and professional geoscience in Saskatchewan to licensed individuals and companies. There are two aspects of self-regulation required to fulfill this obligation:

  1. Registration: Qualified persons are registered and licensed as members and are bound by The Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act and The Engineering and Geoscience Professions Regulatory Bylaws, which contain the Code of Ethics in section 20.
  2. Prohibition: Non-members, who may be unqualified, are prohibited from engaging in the practice of professional engineering or professional geoscience and from using protected titles.

Violators of the Prohibition sections of The Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act are prosecuted in the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan.
