  • A $50 registration fee is required for in‑person attendance at the Professional Development Conference on May 1.
  • Attendees require a personal electronic device to check into PD sessions to receive CPD credits and vote at the annual meeting.

The 96th Annual Meeting and Professional Development Conference will be held in person and virtually on May 1 and 2 in Saskatoon at TCU Place, with a professional development day and reception on May 1 and the annual meeting on May 2.

Professional Development Conference – Friday, May 1, 2026

The APEGS Professional Development Conference brings together engineering and geoscience professionals for a full day of learning that reflects the realities of modern practice. The program combines thought provoking keynote presentations with technically focused track sessions that explore leadership, ethics, regulation, risk, and emerging technologies.

Who Should Attend

This conference is intended for professional engineers and geoscientists at all stages of their careers, from early career professionals to senior leaders. Attendees can earn almost all of their annual verifiable CPD requirements by participating in the May 1st conference.

Keynote Speakers

The conference opens with three keynote speakers who address the professional, cultural, and strategic dimensions of engineering and geoscience work:

  • Ivan Joseph is an internationally known speaker whose TEDx Talk The Skill of Self Confidence has over 28 million views and was named by Forbes as one of the 10 Best TED Talks About the Meaning of Life.
  • Cadmus Delorme brings practical insight on how truth and reconciliation empower infrastructure projects, professional assessments, site investigations, and regulatory decision making.
  • Fotini Iconomopoulos is the negotiation and communication expert trusted by Fortune 500 companies across more than 170 industries to turn high stakes conversations into high impact outcomes.

Technical Track Sessions

In the afternoon, attendees can choose from eight technical sessions delivered across multiple tracks by experts from industry, academia, and regulation. Session topics include:

  • Engineering ethics and professional responsibility
  • Urban resilience and sustainable infrastructure
  • Emerging energy opportunities and renewable systems
  • Community scale microgrids and energy reliability
  • Radiation effects in advanced microelectronics
  • Asset integrity, process safety, and risk management
  • Professional regulatory case law and legal trends
  • Fraud prevention, digital identity, and professional authentication

President’s Reception

The day concludes with a networking event hosted by the APEGS Council President, welcoming industry professionals for an evening of connection and engagement. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with colleagues and peers in a relaxed, professional setting.

APEGS 96th Annual Meeting – Saturday, May 2, 2026

At our annual meeting, APEGS council and leadership will provide reports to registrants and present the audited financial statements. We will also review and discuss proposed amendments to our bylaws, address any new or arising business, and induct our new council members.

APEGS Sci -Fi Science Camp is a kids program offered exclusively to the children of APEGS members who are registered for the annual meeting. The program supports member participation by providing an engaging, educational experience for their children during the meeting.
