Event Summary
Welded steel storage tanks can seem simple. However, if they are specified poorly during the procurement process it can lead to late delivery, budget overruns, and poor performance once the tank is installed. This webinar will help attendees understand the basics of the most common tank codes (API 12F/650/620, ULC S601, ASME VIII Div 1, and AWWA D-100) so that they can navigate through tank projects more effectively. The presenters will share what they consider to be the best practices for tank design and explain how different design choices can make the difference between a great tank and one that can be a headache for operators. Additional guidance will be given on specific areas to pay attention to during the procurement process to ensure tank fabricators deliver the best tank for your application, on time and on budget.
Presenters
Andrew Bennett, P.Eng. has 25 years of experience as an engineer including extensive work in both the manufacturing and mining industries, founding Arka Engineering in 2014. He has been the engineer of record on hundreds of tanks and vessels using many different design codes. He has participated on both the owner’s side of the procurement process as well as the vendor’s side. This unique perspective enables him to advise clients effectively to deliver the best equipment possible.
Jordan Dupuis, P.Eng. joined Arka Engineering in 2018, immediately after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan. He’s designed tanks and vessels of every size and shape, working on projects for industries including oil & gas, potash, and retail fuel. Jordan has spent years working with tank purchasers to make sure that they’re getting the product that they’re looking for.
