Event Summary

The Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS) Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division is pleased to invite geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, owners, operators, regulators, consultants, contractors, researchers, technology providers, and industry partners to participate in an exclusive workshop series on Site Characterization and Instrumentation. This timely program brings together a distinguished panel of internationally recognized experts from academia, industry, dam ownership organizations, and instrumentation specialists to share practical knowledge, lessons learned, and emerging best practices. 

Site characterization and instrumentation are fundamental to the safe design, construction, operation, and risk management of critical infrastructure. Reliable characterization of subsurface conditions and effective monitoring of performance are essential for understanding seepage, stability, deformation, and geohazard risks throughout an asset’s lifecycle. 

This workshop series will provide a comprehensive yet practice-oriented exploration of modern site investigation methods, laboratory and in-situ testing, geophysical surveys, instrumentation systems, monitoring strategies, data interpretation, and emerging digital technologies.
